Knowfident

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 14, 2026 · Last Updated: August 13, 2026

Knowfident ("we", "us", "our") is a mobile study app operated by RVEN Integrated Solutions Ltd. ("RVEN"), based in Canada. This policy is published at knowfident.app/legal/privacy-policy.html. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

By using Knowfident, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:

If you use the app as a guest, we create a temporary account with no personal identifiers. Guest accounts are assigned a random user ID only.

1.2 Study Data

We collect data generated through your use of the app:

1.3 Device Information

If you enable push notifications, we store your device's push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging token) and the platform type (Android or iOS).

Notifications you may receive:

All notifications require your operating system to grant Knowfident notification permission. If you deny or revoke that permission, we cannot send you any notifications regardless of your in-app settings.

For guest accounts, we also store a device identifier (on Android, ANDROID_ID; on iOS, identifierForVendor; on web, a random UUID stored locally) to bind your guest account to your device. This identifier is used solely for service integrity and fraud prevention — specifically, to prevent abuse of free-tier daily limits by repeatedly creating new guest accounts on the same device. It is not used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or sold to third parties. The identifier is retained for the lifetime of the guest account and is cleared when you upgrade to a signed-in account or delete your account.

1.4 Preferences

We store your in-app preferences:

1.5 Information Stored on Your Device

The app stores the following locally on your device using secure native storage:

This data is not transmitted to third parties and is cleared when you sign out.

1.6 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone input, or any data unrelated to the study experience.

3. Third-Party Services

Knowfident uses the following third-party services that may collect or process data on our behalf:

3.1 Google Firebase

3.2 Google AdMob

We display ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve ads. If you have opted in to ad personalization, AdMob may use your activity to show targeted ads. If you declined or have not been asked, only non-personalized (general) ads are shown.

You can change your ad personalization preference at any time in the app under Settings > Privacy & Ads. You can also manage Google's ad consent via the "Manage Google Ad Consent" option in the same section.

3.3 Google Play Services

On Android, the app uses Google Play Services for authentication and app integrity verification. Google Privacy Policy

4. Data Storage, Security, and Cross-Border Transfer

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure located in the United States. AWS is independently certified under SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and other recognized security standards. We use industry-standard security measures, including:

Cross-border transfer notice: Because our servers are in the United States, your personal information is transferred to and processed in the U.S. While stored there, your data is subject to U.S. law, including the U.S. CLOUD Act, which may allow U.S. authorities to request access to data held by U.S.-based service providers (such as AWS) in limited legal circumstances. By using Knowfident, you acknowledge and consent to this cross-border transfer.

No security system is impenetrable. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Data Retention

Signed-in users can delete their own account from within the app, under Settings. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone: your study progress, session history, streaks, enrollments, preferences, and device tokens are erased and cannot be restored, even if you sign in again with the same Google account.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

7. Children's Privacy

Knowfident is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Canadian Privacy Law (PIPEDA & Quebec Law 25)

We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and substantially similar provincial privacy legislation, including Quebec's Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25), Alberta's PIPA, and British Columbia's PIPA.

Notice to Quebec residents (Law 25): Personal information collected about you is communicated outside Quebec for storage and processing — specifically, to AWS data centers in the United States (Northern Virginia). Before this transfer, we have assessed that the recipient (AWS) provides protection equivalent to that required under Quebec privacy law, based on AWS's published security certifications, contractual data protection commitments, and our own technical safeguards (encryption in transit and at rest, network isolation, access controls). You may contact us at the email below to obtain more information about this assessment or to exercise your rights of access, rectification, deletion, portability, or to object to certain processing.

You may file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (federal), the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (Quebec residents), or your applicable provincial regulator if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.

9. International Users

9.1 European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland

If you access Knowfident from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legal bases are:

Because your data is transferred to and stored in the United States, this constitutes a cross-border transfer outside the EEA. We rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), incorporated into our AWS data processing agreement, as the legal mechanism for this transfer. AWS publishes its SCCs and data residency commitments at aws.amazon.com/compliance/gdpr-center.

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9.2 United States residents

U.S. residents in states with comprehensive privacy laws (including California's CCPA/CPRA, Colorado's CPA, Virginia's VCDPA, Connecticut's CTDPA, and similar) have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access and delete it, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not "sell" personal information for money. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

9.3 All other jurisdictions

If you access Knowfident from any other country, your data will be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States. By using the app, you consent to this transfer and the application of U.S. and Canadian law to your data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via an in-app notice. Continued use of Knowfident after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
